API CO2 Booster is a liquid carbon supplement for planted freshwater aquariums, for keepers who want better plant growth without installing a pressurised CO2 cylinder.
Carbon is the nutrient plants need most and the one a closed aquarium is usually shortest of. A tank gets a small amount of dissolved CO2 from fish respiration and from the surface, but in a well lit planted tank the plants use it faster than it comes in, and growth stalls no matter how much fertiliser you dose. The standard fix is a pressurised CO2 system, which is effective but expensive, bulky and needs careful monitoring because overdosing gas can suffocate fish. This bottle is the simpler route. It supplies both dissolved CO2 and simple organic carbon compounds that plants can absorb directly from the water, and it releases that carbon gradually rather than as a single spike, so plants get a steady supply to work with through the day.
It is safe for freshwater fish and does not shift aquarium pH, which means it slots into a normal dosing routine without adding another parameter to test for. Use it on its own in a low tech planted tank, or alongside a pressurised system to even out supply. Dose to the bottle instructions.
