Aquasonic Bactonex is a broad spectrum aquarium treatment designed to help prevent and control bacterial, fungal and protozoal infections, and it can be used in both freshwater and marine aquariums.
That breadth is the point. Rather than committing to a single targeted medication and losing days if you have guessed wrong, Bactonex covers a wider range of the common causes in one product. It suits the early stages of an unexplained health problem, and situations where more than one thing may be going on at once.
Remove activated carbon from the filter before dosing, because carbon will absorb the active ingredients and weaken the treatment. Follow the dosage on the pack for your tank volume, and do not layer other medications on top unless the label allows it.
