Description
White spot, or ich, is the disease most freshwater fishkeepers meet first. It shows as a scatter of tiny white dots, like grains of salt, across the body and fins, usually alongside flicking against decor and rapid gill movement. It spreads fast through a tank, and it does not go away on its own. Aquasonic Ichonex is formulated to assist in controlling white spot, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, in freshwater aquariums.
Because Ichonex targets this one parasite rather than covering a broad range of problems, it suits the case where you have identified white spot and want to treat it directly. The parasite only becomes vulnerable at a particular stage of its life cycle, which is why a treatment course is timed rather than a single dose. Follow the pack directions for your tank volume and for how long to continue.
This is a freshwater treatment, and activated carbon must come out of the filter before dosing, because carbon will strip the active ingredient from the water. Do not run other medications alongside it unless the label permits it.

Outbreaks usually follow chilled water or a stressed new arrival, so test your parameters and change some water as well. You can browse every aquarium product for kits and conditioners.
