Pick the size that matches your existing frame, not your dog. The quickest check is to measure the outside length of the steel frame and find that figure in the frame column below.

How to choose your size
The frame is the deciding measurement here, not the dog. Run a tape along the outside of your frame, match it to the frame column, and order that row. The cover figure is the sleeping area stretched between the rails, always shorter than the frame overall, so a Large cover measuring 100cm is correct for a 112cm frame. Use the weight column as a cross check rather than a size selector: if your dog is heavier than the limit shown, the frame itself is undersized and a bigger cover will not fix that. Buying a raised bed for the first time? Measure your dog nose to base of tail while they are stretched out on their side, add 15 to 20cm, and choose the frame and cover that clear it. Sprawlers need the full flat span; a curler can manage on less. When a dog falls between two sizes, go up.
Why an elevated bed
The value of a hammock bed is in the gap beneath it. Your dog sits 18 to 24cm above the ground, off scorching concrete in summer and off cold, wet surfaces in winter, with air circulating underneath so body heat carries away instead of building up. It also keeps them out of the damp and off hard floors that press on elbows and hips.
About the canvas twill
This is the toughest weave in the standard range. Lightweight twilled canvas with a PVC backing and a high thread count, it is water resistant and wind resistant, so a shower on an open verandah does not soak through and gusty weather does not flap it about. It is UV treated for Australian sun, flea resistant, and the manufacturer rates it for heavy scratchers, which makes it the pick for a dog who paws and circles before lying down. Also sold in a camo colourway on the same size chart.

Who it is not for
Canvas is solid fabric, so it does not breathe the way an open weave does. If your dog runs hot and lives in the shade all summer, the original flea-free shade cloth moves more air. If your dog actively chews bedding rather than just scratching at it, step up to the heavy duty flea-free Textilene cover with heat-welded seams. And if you want a natural, compostable fibre, the hessian cover is the one, though it carries none of the water, UV or flea properties described here.
