Most harnesses fit a dog shaped like the one the pattern was drawn around. Yours may have a deep narrow chest and a slim neck, or a broad barrel chest on a short neck, and a harness with a single adjustment point cannot serve both. Something ends up loose or something ends up tight, and the dog wears the compromise every walk.
The Cocopup London Adjustable Neck Harness adjusts at two points, the neck and the chest, which is the whole argument for it. You set the neck to your dog's neck and the chest to your dog's chest, independently, so the ratio between the two is whatever your dog actually is. That is the difference between a harness that sits correctly and one that rides forward, rubs at the shoulder, or leaves a gap a determined dog can reverse out of.
How it goes on
This harness goes over the head. It is not a step in harness. You slide it over, adjust at the neck and chest, and fasten the buckle at the side. Dogs who dislike having their paws lifted usually prefer this to a step in design, and there is no wrestling with feet in the rain.

How to measure your dog
Measure the neck at the base, where the harness will sit rather than up by the ears. Then measure the chest at its widest point, which is just behind the front legs. Compare both numbers to the table. If your dog falls between two sizes, take the larger one, because both points adjust down and a harness you can tighten is more useful than one you cannot loosen. For a growing puppy, buy for the dog in front of you rather than the dog they will be in three months, since a harness that is too big is a harness they can back out of.
