Because it stretches to grip rather than needing to be taped or tied, it forms a proper seal that keeps food fresher for longer between feeds, and the same stretch lets one cover fit a range of roll sizes. It works equally well as a lid for opened cans of wet food, and being reusable and dishwasher safe, it cuts down on the disposable plastic that would otherwise pile up in the bin week after week.
