Description
The first time your dog meets the extended family is a bigger occasion than anyone admits out loud. So is the pub lunch in December, the carols night, the walk on Boxing Day where you run into everyone you know. Tartan is the print that covers all of it, because red and black check has never once looked like a novelty item.
This is the Classic cut, which is the more restrained of the two shapes Cocopup London makes, and on a small dog that restraint is the whole point. A neat bow sitting square at the throat looks like your dog is dressed. An oversized one on the same dog looks like your dog is in fancy dress, and the difference is about three centimetres.
Size
- Classic cut, 10cm x 7cm
- The Sailor version of the same tartan measures 13cm x 11cm, for a bigger dog or a bolder look
How it attaches
This bow tie does not slide onto a collar. It wraps around the collar or a harness strap and closes with velcro on the reverse. Two things follow from that, and both are in your favour. It fits any collar or harness you already own rather than requiring a particular one, and getting it on is a three second job with the collar still on the dog. A slide-on bow means unbuckling the collar, threading the bow along it and buckling it back up, which is fine once and tedious by the fourth attempt at a decent photo.

Before you buy
This is a styling accessory, not equipment. Put it on for the occasion, take it off afterwards, and do not leave it on a dog who is unsupervised or playing hard with another dog. That is precisely why the velcro matters: off in seconds, back on just as quickly when someone wants another photo.
A plain base colour lets the check do the talking, so it is worth seeing what is in the collar collection, and if your dog walks in a harness the bow sits on the chest strap just as happily, with plenty to choose from among the Cocopup harnesses.
