GiGwi publishes these dimensions as approximate. The outer figure tells you how much floor the bed takes up; the inner sleeping area is the flat cushion inside the bolster walls, and that is the number your dog actually lies on.
How to choose your size
Measure your dog from nose to the base of the tail while they are lying stretched out, then add roughly 15 to 20cm. Compare that figure with the inner sleeping area above, not the outer dimensions, because the padded walls take up a large share of this bed's footprint. Both sizes here are genuinely compact: even the Large gives 40cm x 37cm of cushion, which suits a small dog or a cat that curls into a ball rather than a mid size dog that stretches out flat. If your dog sleeps sprawled on their side, a flat mattress will serve them better. If your measurement lands between the two sizes, take the Large.
