Description
Plecos, bristlenose and other algae grazers spend their time working over the floor of the tank, and a floating pellet never reaches them. Hikari Algae Wafers Mini are sinking herbivore wafers pressed into a smaller disc for young or small plecos, corydoras and other algae eating fish that cannot get their mouths around a full sized wafer.
The point of a sinking wafer is where the food ends up. It drops to the substrate and holds its shape instead of clouding away, so a bottom feeder can settle on it and graze the way it would rasp algae off driftwood and glass. That matters because the algae growing naturally in a clean, well lit tank rarely feeds a pleco properly, and a hungry algae eater will start on your plants instead.
Offer a wafer in the evening once the lights are off, since many bottom feeders are most active after dark and slower fish get a chance at it. Feed one or two times daily, only what is eaten within a few minutes, and remove any soggy remains so they do not foul the water.
- Smaller disc size for small algae eating fish

- Sinks and holds shape for natural grazing
- Suits plecos, bristlenose and corydoras
- Available in 22g and 85g
Larger, fully grown plecos are better served by the standard sized wafer, which sits alongside the rest of the aquarium range.
