Description
Bettas feed at the surface, have stomachs about the size of their eye and are notoriously picky. Hikari Betta Bio-Gold is a floating pellet developed from extensive research into what bettas eat and what they need, rather than a general tropical food that happens to be small enough to fit.
Floating is the part that matters day to day. The pellets stay at the top of the water, which is exactly where a betta patrols and where its upturned mouth is designed to feed. A sinking food drifts past, settles in the gravel and rots, and in the small bowls and tanks bettas usually live in there is very little water to dilute the ammonia that follows. Food that stays visible also lets you count what goes in and see what gets eaten.
Offer a few pellets once or twice a day, no more than your fish clears in a couple of minutes, and net out anything left floating. Bettas will happily overeat, and bloating and fouled water are the two most common problems in a betta setup.
