Arowana and other top feeding carnivores are usually raised on live food, and that is where the trouble starts. Hikari Food Sticks are floating sticks formulated as a complete diet for those fish, so a predator that hunts at the surface can be fed properly without a bucket of feeder fish in the laundry.
The floating format is what makes it workable. Large carnivores watch the surface and strike upward, so a stick that sits on top of the water is taken the way prey would be, while a sinking food would drift past unnoticed and foul the substrate. The sticks also absorb water and soften, which is closer to the texture these fish expect than a hard dry pellet.
The bigger argument is health. A live only diet tends to be nutritionally narrow, and live feeders are a well known route for parasites and bacteria into a closed tank. A prepared stick removes that risk entirely while covering the nutrition a live fish diet leaves short.
