Description
Arowana, Malawi peacocks and the other large top feeding predators are the fish most often stuck on a live food diet. Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks are oversized floating sticks built for them, with enough bulk to satisfy a big carnivore in a few mouthfuls.
The trick is texture. Once the sticks hit the water they soften to something close to a live fish, which is why fussy predators that refuse dry pellets will still take them. Because the sticks float, they sit in the strike zone of fish that hunt upward at the surface, instead of sinking out of sight the way a bottom feeder diet would.
Nutritionally it is a step up from live feeders. A diet of feeder fish tends to be unbalanced over time and is one of the more common ways parasites and bacteria get into a large predator tank, and a prepared stick sidesteps that completely. The formula is also colour enhancing, which shows clearly on the big, bold species these are aimed at.
- For large top feeding carnivorous fish
- Softens to a live fish like texture in water
- Colour enhancing formula for vivid natural colouration
- More balanced than a live food only diet
- Removes the parasite and bacteria risk of feeder fish
These sticks are too large for small community fish, which are better served from the wider fish keeping range.
