Description
Hikari Sinking Wafers are a daily food for corydoras catfish, loaches and the other bottom dwelling fish that spend their day working over the substrate rather than rising to the surface. Available in 25g, 50g and 110g.
In a busy community tank the food often never reaches the bottom. Flakes sit on the surface, quicker mid water fish intercept whatever starts to fall, and the corydoras patrolling the gravel are left living on scraps. These wafers are built to solve exactly that. They sink quickly and hold their shape once they land, so the food stays where bottom feeders actually hunt for it instead of crumbling into a cloud that drifts off into the filter intake. Holding together also gives slow, methodical grazers time to find a wafer and work through it at their own pace, which is how corydoras and loaches naturally eat.
Feed once or twice a day and offer only what your fish clear within a few minutes. Check the substrate afterwards and lift out anything left behind, because uneaten food breaks down into ammonia and undoes the work your filter bacteria are doing. If your loaches are shy, drop a wafer in after the tank lights dim.
Key details
- Formulated for corydoras, loaches and other bottom dwelling species
- Sinks rapidly so food reaches the substrate
- Holds its shape rather than clouding the water
- Suits slow grazers that feed over a longer period
- Available in 25g, 50g and 110g
This is a sinking food, so it is not the right choice as the only diet for surface feeders such as bettas or guppies. Pair it with a floating flake or granule for fish higher in the water column, and see the full fish and aquarium range for the rest of your tank.
