Description
API Leaf Zone is a liquid fertiliser for live plants in freshwater aquariums, sold in a 237ml bottle. If your swords, anubias or stem plants are yellowing, thinning out or dropping leaves, this is the product aimed at that problem.
Aquarium plants are usually short of two things in particular: iron and potassium. Iron is needed to build chlorophyll, and without enough of it new leaves come through pale and yellow between the veins while the plant itself stays green, a pattern most keepers recognise before they know what causes it. Potassium governs cell pressure, so a shortage shows up as limp growth and pinholes that spread through older leaves. Leaf Zone supplies both, with the iron in chelated form, which simply means it is held in a stable complex that keeps it available for the plant to take up instead of oxidising out of solution within hours of being added.
It is formulated for uptake through the leaves rather than the roots, so it suits water column feeders such as anubias, java fern and most stem plants that are not planted deeply into substrate. Dose on the schedule printed on the bottle, dosing after a water change so you are adding to fresh water, and pair it with adequate lighting. Fertiliser cannot compensate for a tank that is too dim.
