Forest green is the reason this one works rather than merely existing. It is dark enough to read as formal and warm enough to not look severe, and it photographs beautifully against black, tan and cream coats alike, which flat black velvet does not always manage. The pile catches light rather than flattening under a flash, so the bow still has shape in an indoor photo instead of turning into a dark smudge on the chest.
How it goes on
It does not slide onto a collar. The bow wraps around the collar or a harness strap and fastens with velcro on the reverse. Practically, that means you do not unbuckle anything and you do not thread anything: it works on the collar your dog is already wearing, or on a harness strap if that is what they walk in, whatever the width. On before you leave the house, off in the car on the way home.

Classic or Sailor
This is the Classic size at 10cm x 7cm, the neater of the two cuts, and it is the one to choose for a small dog or for a formal look where the bow should not dominate. The Sailor version of the same velvet measures 13cm x 11cm and makes a far bigger statement on a larger dog.
Worth knowing before you buy
A bow tie is a styling piece, not something to leave on an unsupervised dog. Velvet in particular will not thank you for a wrestle in the garden. The velcro fastening is the answer to that: it comes off in seconds once the photos are done, and goes straight back on for the next round of them.
