Description
A check valve is the small part that stops an air pump setup turning into a flood. When the power drops out, or you switch the pump off at the wall, aquarium water can siphon back down the airline and into the pump itself. This 12 pack of Pet Worx check valves fits inline on standard airline and lets air travel in one direction only.
Any tank running an air stone, a sponge filter or a bubbling ornament depends on a pump sitting outside the tank, and usually below the waterline. That is all a siphon needs. With the pump idle, water creeps down the tubing, kills the motor and keeps going onto the floor. A one way valve breaks that path.
Fit the valve in the airline between the pump and the tank with the flow arrow pointing toward the tank, and run the line above the waterline wherever your setup allows. A 12 pack covers several tanks and leaves spares, which helps because valves stiffen with age.
