Description
A Pet Worx Internal Filter sits inside the aquarium, fully submerged, and pulls water through a media chamber before returning it to the tank. That does two jobs at once. The obvious one is mechanical: it strips out uneaten food, plant debris and suspended muck so the water stays clear. The less visible one matters more, because the media inside gives the beneficial bacteria colony somewhere permanent to live.
Those bacteria run the nitrogen cycle. Fish waste and leftover food break down into ammonia, toxic even in small amounts. Bacteria on the filter media convert it to nitrite, also toxic, and then to nitrate, which is far less harmful and comes out with water changes. A tank without an established filter has nowhere for that colony to build, which is why brand new aquariums lose fish. Run the filter continuously and rinse the media in old tank water, never under the tap.
Seven flow rates let you match the unit to the tank. Volume drives the choice: a small betta or shrimp tank suits 150 or 250 LPH, a community tank of a few hundred litres 450 or 800 LPH, and larger or heavily stocked aquariums 1300, 1800 or 2300 LPH. Undersizing leaves waste in the water, oversizing creates a current that tires slow swimming fish.
- Fully submersible internal filter, mounts inside the tank
- Mechanical filtration traps debris and clears the water
- Media chamber provides surface area for nitrifying bacteria
- Seven models: 150, 250, 450, 800, 1300, 1800 and 2300 LPH
- Match the flow rate to your tank volume and stocking level
An internal filter takes up space inside the aquarium, so on a very small tank the larger models are not practical. Pair yours with a dechlorinator and a test kit from more fish care essentials.
