Description
Sera San Colour Flakes are a colour enhancing daily food for tropical community fish, guppies, platies, barbs, tetras and small cichlids, in 60g and 210g.
Fish lose colour in captivity for a reason. Many of the reds, oranges and yellows on a fish are carotenoid pigments the animal cannot manufacture itself, so it can only display what its diet supplies. On a plain staple diet a fish that arrived from the shop vivid will gradually fade, and keepers usually blame lighting or stress when the food is the actual cause. San is built around natural colour enhancing ingredients rather than artificial dyes, which means the colour develops in the fish over weeks of regular feeding instead of being painted onto the flake.
Being a flake, it floats when it first hits the water and then sinks slowly through the upper and middle of the tank, so surface feeders and the mid water community fish that make up most colourful species both get their share. It is a complete staple, so you can feed it as the everyday diet rather than only as a treat, which is what makes the colour effect build up. Feed once or twice daily and only what is eaten within a couple of minutes.
