Description
Sera Spirulina Tabs are a plant based tablet food for herbivorous grazers: plecos, bristlenose, otocinclus and other algae eating bottom dwellers, in a 60g pack.
Herbivores are built to process plant matter continuously, not to take a protein rich meal once a day, and a pleco kept on standard community flake will often look thin no matter how much the tank gets fed. Spirulina is an algae, so it puts the kind of plant material these fish evolved on directly in front of them, and it is naturally rich in the carotenoid pigments that support natural colour as well as being easy on a herbivore's gut.
The tablet form does two useful things. Dropped in, the tabs sink to the bottom, past the mid water fish that would otherwise intercept a flake, and then stay put as a solid disc a grazer can settle on and rasp at for a long session rather than a quick bite. You can also press a tab onto the inside of the front glass with light finger pressure, which holds it in view and lets you watch shy species feed that you would otherwise never see.
Key details

- Sink to the bottom, or press onto the glass to watch them feed
- Supports healthy digestion, vitality and natural colour
- Suits plecos, algae eaters and grazing bottom dwellers
- 60g pack
Feed once or twice daily, only what is finished within a few minutes, and lift out anything left so it does not break down into ammonia. This is a herbivore food, so carnivorous and mostly predatory species need something else. See more bottom feeder foods and fish care.
