Description
Sera Vipagran Baby Granules are a rearing food for fry and juvenile fish, the stage where most home bred livebearers, tetras and cichlids are lost. 28g pack.
Particle size is the whole point of a fry food. A newly free swimming fish has a mouth a fraction of a millimetre across and simply cannot take a normal flake or granule, so it will swim past adult food and slowly starve in a tank that looks well fed. These micro granules are milled fine enough for a fry to actually swallow, and soften quickly in water so they are easy to digest. They are slowly sinking, which matters because fry mostly hang in the middle water zone rather than at the surface or on the substrate. Food that drifts down gradually stays in front of them for longer instead of being gone in seconds.
Fry have tiny stomachs and grow fast, so feed small amounts several times a day rather than one large meal. That habit is also the risk: in a small grow out tank uneaten food rots quickly and drives ammonia, which fry tolerate far worse than adults do. Keep portions light and stay on top of small, frequent water changes.
