Description
A hooded faux fur bed in olive for the dog who sleeps under the doona, not on top of it.
Some dogs will not settle on an open surface. They dig their way under a blanket, wedge themselves behind the couch cushions, or sleep with their head jammed into a corner. That is den behaviour, and a hood answers it directly: the soft foam arch gives the dog a roof they can tuck under, so the enclosed pocket they were building out of your bedding is already built.
Size guide
One size, Medium: 70cm long x 70cm wide x 45cm high. The 45cm is the height of the hood at its peak, so that is the clearance your dog has overhead when they walk in. Snooza make this bed in this size only. Please note that one retailer quotes the height as 39cm; 45cm is the figure Snooza publish, and it is the one we list.
How to choose your size
With a single size the question is not which one, it is whether your dog fits. Measure from the nose to the base of the tail while the dog is lying stretched out, then add 15cm to 20cm. If that total is comfortably under 70cm you have a good fit, because the dog will be curling rather than stretching once they are inside the hood. Also check the shoulder height of a sitting dog against the 45cm hood; a dog who has to flatten their head to get under it will avoid the bed. Between two dogs of similar length, the one who curls will use this bed and the one who lies out straight will sleep with their back half hanging out of it.
The hood does three separate jobs. It traps body heat, which suits a thin coated or older dog on a cold floor. It cuts down what the dog can see, which takes the edge off doorways, television light and passing movement for a nervous dog. And it gives a burrower somewhere legitimate to burrow, which usually saves the couch throws. The trade off is honest: a dog who sprawls on their side will find the footprint too small, a heavy coated dog who already seeks out tiles in summer will cook under it, and a large breed simply will not get under a 45cm hood. If that sounds like your dog, an open bolster or a flat mat is the better buy.
- One size, 70cm x 70cm x 45cm high

- Foam insert is washable too and tumble dries on cool to bring the loft back
- Non slip treatment on the base
- Olive colourway, also available in storm
Care is simple: air the bed and the insert in the sun regularly, take the cover off before washing, line dry or tumble dry low, and skip the iron, bleach and dry cleaner. Snooza have been manufacturing in Australia for more than thirty years and this one is locally crafted, which is the practical reason covers and inserts can be replaced individually rather than binning the whole bed. It is a comfort and security bed rather than an orthopaedic one, so a senior dog with sore joints is better served by a foam base. Prefer to see the open styles side by side?
