Description
Cats that hide when the vacuum comes out, when visitors arrive or when a new animal joins the house are not being difficult, they are looking for somewhere with walls. The Snooza Cat Bed in Chinchilla is a soft faux fur tunnel that gives them exactly that: a covered space with one clear exit, which is the arrangement a cat will actually commit to sleeping in. Flexible boning runs around the opening, so you can hold the tunnel wide open, roll the front down into a low nest, or turn it inside out for a second surface. That is the three ways it is meant to be used.
Size guide
One size: 46cm long x 35cm diameter. This is a round tunnel, not a rectangle, so the two numbers describe different things. 46cm is how deep the tunnel runs front to back. 35cm is the diameter of the circular opening, which is both the width and the height of the entrance. Snooza publishes no weight or breed guidance for this bed, so none is listed here.
How to choose
There is one size, so the check is whether your cat suits the shape. A 35cm opening takes an average adult cat easily and reads as snug rather than tight, which is the point of a cave bed. Measure your cat nose to base of tail lying curled: most house cats settle inside 46cm of tunnel comfortably. A very large or long bodied cat may prefer it rolled down and used as an open nest instead of entering the tunnel, and cats who dislike enclosed spaces altogether are better served by a flat mat.
- Round tunnel or cave shape, 46cm long with a 35cm diameter opening
- Polyester faux fur using two pile heights for a textured, den like feel
- Boned opening holds its shape, rolls down, and the bed reverses
- Fully machine washable at 40 degrees, cool tumble dry, no bleach or ironing
- Originally developed for Australia's quarantine feline facility, where frequent washing was a requirement
Honest note: faux fur is a hair and litter magnet, so expect to wash it more often than a canvas bed, and this is not the bed for a cat who sleeps sprawled in the open sun. It is for the nervous one, the one who sleeps in the laundry basket, or a multi cat home where somebody needs their own retreat. Have a look at what else is in the beds collection before deciding.
