Goldfish are natural foragers. In the wild they spend their day rooting through substrate rather than snatching food off the surface, and fancy varieties in particular do better when they are not forced to feed upwards. TetraColour Sinking Goldfish Granules are made to drop down to where goldfish prefer to eat.
There is a practical reason to prefer sinking food for goldfish beyond natural behaviour. Fish that gulp repeatedly at the surface take in air along with their meal, and in round bodied fancy goldfish that swallowed air can contribute to buoyancy trouble. A granule that sinks lets them feed head down the way they are built to.
The formula is colour enhancing, aimed at bringing out the orange, red and white tones goldfish are kept for, and it provides balanced everyday nutrition with the vitamins needed to keep fish in condition. Feed once or twice daily and offer only what is eaten within a couple of minutes. Goldfish are messy, heavy waste producers with big appetites, so uneaten granules sitting in the gravel will drive ammonia up quickly.
