Measure the outside length of your frame and match it to the frame column below before you order.

How to choose your size
The frame decides. Take the outside length of the steel frame you are re-covering, find it in the third column, and buy that row. Do not be put off by the cover reading smaller: the fabric spans between the end rails, so a Jumbo cover at 110cm is the correct fit for a 118cm Jumbo frame. The weight column is the manufacturer limit for that frame size, and it is worth checking against your dog: if he outweighs the number on the row you were about to buy, the frame underneath needs to go up a size as well as the cover. Buying a complete setup for the first time? Measure your dog nose to base of tail while lying stretched out, add 15 to 20cm, and choose the frame and matching cover that clear it comfortably. Between two sizes, size up.
Why an elevated bed
A hammock bed lifts your dog 18 to 24cm clear of the ground, which is the whole point of it. No lying on hot concrete in summer or cold, wet ground in winter, air free to move underneath so heat does not build up in the bedding, and no contact with damp or hard surfaces that press into elbows and hips. With this open weave Textilene, air moves through the fabric as well as under the bed.
About the Textilene
This is the cover to buy when the last one did not survive. The fabric is 430gsm poly-coated Textilene shade cloth, and the seams are sewn and then heat-welded rather than just stitched, which removes the edge a dog usually starts picking at. The manufacturer rates it for rougher pets, chewers, puppies and nesters. It is flea treated, UV treated (mild fading over time is normal), tear and mildew resistant, sag resistant, and still open weave so it breathes.

Who it is not for
If your dog sleeps politely and never touches the bedding, this is more cover than you need and the original flea-free shade cloth does the same job for less. It is also not the choice if you want a natural fibre, which is the hessian cover, or if rain blowing onto an open verandah is your main concern, where the water resistant canvas twill is the better answer. No fabric is chew-proof, but this is the one built to last longest against a dog that works at it.
