Description
This is a replacement sack only. No foam insert and no frame are included. It is the outer hessian bag that goes over a Superior Pet hessian dog mat, and it also fits the sleeping area of a matching size raised hammock bed frame. Either way, size it to the mat or frame you already own, not to your dog.
Important before you order: this sack does not come with Velcro tabs. Slipping it over a foam mat is straightforward, but fitting it to a raised bed frame means hand-stitching it in place. If you want a cover that slides on and fastens with tabs in a minute, buy one of the fitted hammock bed covers instead. This is the most common reason this item comes back to us, so it is worth being sure.

Superior Pet publishes no maximum dog weight for the sack on its own, so we have not listed one here rather than invent a figure. If you are fitting it to a raised bed frame, the frame carries the weight rating.
How to choose your size
Replacing a worn sack on a mat? Measure the foam insert, or look at the stripe on the old sack: green means Large, purple means Jumbo, and no stripe at these sizes means Medium. That colour code is the fastest way to reorder correctly. Covering a raised bed frame instead? Measure the outside length of the steel frame and use the third column, remembering the sack matches the sleeping area rather than the full frame length, so a 94cm sack belongs on a 106cm frame. If this is a first purchase rather than a replacement, measure your dog nose to base of tail lying stretched out and add 15 to 20cm, then buy the mat or frame that clears that measurement and match the sack to it. Between two sizes, take the larger.
Why hessian, and why raised
Jute hessian is fully biodegradable, treated with vegetable oil and pet-safe vegetable dyes, and naturally hypoallergenic. It breathes, it has an innate stretch that lets a dog nest into it, and it copes with moisture and rough outdoor conditions. When the sack is finished, it composts instead of going to landfill. Over a raised frame it also does what elevated bedding does best: lifts the dog clear of hot or freezing ground, lets air circulate underneath so heat does not pool, and keeps them out of the damp and off hard floors.

Who it is not for
Skip this if you want a quick-change frame cover, if your dog chews bedding, or if you need a flea, UV or water treated fabric. This sack makes none of those claims. It is the honest, cheap, natural replacement for a hessian mat, and a workable frame cover for anyone happy with a needle and thread.
